Catechesis themed around Finding Vocation at Mercy Centre, Tauron Arena
Today marked the first day of catechesis for World Youth Day. In the TAURON Arena, English-speaking youth had the opportunity to hear from inspirational speakers like Chris Steffanick, Sr. Bethany Madonna, Jason and Crystalina Evert, and Cardinal O’Malley of Boston, Massachusetts.
Young pilgrims engaged in a magical Stations of the Cross with Pope Francis at Blonia Park. The Way of the Cross or Via Crucis is the third main event of the World Youth Day and the last one held at Blonia Park.
The Via Crucis invited the pilgrims to contemplate on the passion of Christ when he was condemned to death to save us. The Poles did more than that though. The WYD Via Crucis showcased the corporal and spiritual works of mercy for each station.
Millions of young people have gathered in Campus Misericordiae for the Prayer Vigil with the Pope. In his speech, he asked the youth to work hand in hand, to set out on new unbeaten paths, to leave a mark in the world, and to not be couch potatoes!
A world away from Poland yet still celebrating World Youth Day.
Over the weekend 160 students from 11 Catholic schools around the South Island, came together at the Marian College and Catholic Cathedral College site in Christchurch for a weekend of faith, friendship and fun. The event was dreamt up 18 months ago so students could have their own World Youth Day experience despite not being in Poland.

Papież powiedział;
