NEW TRACK IN NEW ZEALAND - ESCARPMENT TRACK

10 km track , about 4 hours walk starts in Paekakariki, Ranging from 220 meters, with vistas across ocean and a birds' eye view of State Highway 1. with "stairway to heaven', a serious workout of 500 steps. Work started in 2011 and some parts were opened in 2013. the newest part features includes 40 metre swing bridges and an area of kohekohe forest.

The official opening ceremony was in parliament 7th of April and the track was opened on 9th of April with five departures between 11 and 1 pm  A tree planting ceremony was held in Paekakariki at 10:30 am with Kapiti mayor Ross Church and Poriura mayor Nick Leggett.
