Last year at Christmas the Polish language school in Mount Maunganui began to exchange letters, postcards and souvenirs with 48th Primary School  in Gdansk- Zaspa. Children from both countries have been receiving colourful pictures and posters full of interesting information about Poland and New Zealand. The goal of the exchange is to create friendships, share culture and to expose our children to Polish language while at the same time expose Polish children to English language. So far, both schools have created correspondence related to Christmas, Easter Holidays and Mother’s Day. At present they are preparing letters and cards for International Children’s Day on June 1. Magdalena James from Mount Maunganui School and Malgorzata Pirszel from 48 Primary School in Gdansk-Zaspa are in charge of the children’s correspondence.  They are as excited as the children who can’t wait for the letters to arrive.
Below are a few pictures from 48 Primary School in Gdansk-Zaspa.
